ABOUT THE ALÉM DA BR AWARD
In June 2022, Revista Arte Brasileira started taking suggestions for stories from foreign artists. As the magazine is focused on Brazilian arts, an exclusive space for this demand was created as a solution to this impasse. Since then, we are proud to have shared more than 3,000 non-Brazilian songs and artists from all corners of the world, such as Europe, Oceania, Africa, Asia, North/Central/Latin America, and from specific countries that get little space in Western and/or traditional media, such as Trinidad and Tobago, Bulgaria, Panama, Taiwan, Poland, Jamaica, China, South Africa, Cuba, Russia, and many others. ALÉM DA BR has a strong readership, with its main audience being Americans and Europeans. The success of the ALÉM DA BR column is such that we decided to inaugurate this Award, which should be held annually, with the aim of becoming a traditional Award, contested and recognised nationally and internationally.
ABOUT THE MAGAZINE ARTE BRASILEIRA
Cultural journalism has a peculiar reading when it’s done by Arte Brasileira Magazine. Conceived in 2014 and officially founded in 2016 by journalism student Matheus Luzi, the magazine specialises in Brazil, its artists and its artistic expressions. It also covers third-party subjects, relating them to national art in such a way that they become a single entity. Arte Brasileira is run by Matheus Luzi and receives contributions from writers and journalists from all over Brazil with different specialities.
